Emily Tietyen, CPP
President



Emily Tietyen, CPP, SHRM-CP, PHR, MBA is the Human Resources Manager for NEW Water in Green Bay, WI. Through various roles she has been involved in the HR and Payroll profession for over 15 years. Her experience has granted her opportunities in many industries including retail, manufacturing, bio-technology, hospitality and the public sector. Emily earned her CPP in 2014 after participating in the Northeast Wisconsin Chapters study group. Since then, she past participated in the Chapter as a past board member, study group facilitator and state wide committee member. Emily also serves on the National American Payroll Associations Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force. In addition to her CPP designation, Emily holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) credential, the SHRM-CP credential and her MBA from Concordia University. She has a passion for continuing education in the payroll and HR professions and is thrilled to re-join the Board of Directors. In her spare time Emily enjoys reading, listening to pod casts, all things Disney, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Melissa DeSwarte, CPP is the Compensation Analyst for Americollect, Inc.  Through various roles, she has been involved in both the Payroll and Benefits professions for 10 years.  In her current role, she specializes in the daily administration of payroll, compliance, and the development of the company’s compensation philosophies and strategies.  After attending her first Statewide Conference in 2016, she became a member of the Chapter in 2017.  Melissa earned her Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification in 2021 after participating in the study group offered by the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter.  Melissa has system experience with Paylocity and Kronos Workforce Ready.  In her spare time, Melissa enjoys reading, singing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

MariBeth Theusch, CPP is the Accounting/HR Systems Analyst for Great Northern Corporation.  Although her roles with previous companies have been primarily accounting focused, payroll has also been her responsibility in many of those roles over the course of her career.  In her current role with GNC, MariBeth works closely with the Payroll/Human Resource administrators at their seven locations to troubleshoot system issues, ensure compliance and to create the best user experience possible with their HCM software.  MariBeth earned her CPP in 2020 after participating in the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter's study group and has been a member of the chapter since 2018.  In her free time, MariBeth enjoys reading, cooking, baking bread, dining out with friends and traveling to food destinations.

Cassie Tennant, CPP is the Senior Payroll Specialist at Prevea Health. Her previous role prior to joining Prevea was at Savage Services as the Payroll Tax & Compliance Specialist.  She started working on and off in Payroll in 2005 and made payroll her career focus in 2014. She enjoys everything to do with payroll and staying current on all the different state rules and taxes.

Tonia Starzer, CPP is the payroll supervisor with Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP and has been with the firm since 2009. She provides payroll, payroll tax, and accounting services to clients. Tonia also provides QuickBooks and Peachtree consulting services. In addition, Tonia is involved in the preparation of tax returns for individuals and small businesses.

 

She has been working in payroll for over 16 years and received her CPP certification in 2010 and joined the NEW APA that same year. In her spare time she loves running, reading, and spending time with my husband and 3 sons.

April Jeanty, CPP is a Payroll Implementation Consultant at CliftonLarsonAllen. She specializes in the Time & Attendance side of implementations for CLA clients all over the United States, which uses the HCM software, isolved. She has more than 19 years of payroll experience, starting her career managing payroll and accounting for a family-owned business.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer End-User Technology from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, graduating in 2002. She also holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Accounting, graduating summa cum laude in 2015.  Since starting her most recent career in public accounting, she has become a member of the NEW Chapter of the American Payroll Association and more recently becoming a National Member as well as earning her CPP certification in October 2018.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids.  When not busy watching her children’s sports events she like to travel and camp with her family. When she has time to herself, she enjoys reading and is always looking for great book suggestions!

Lynn Gauger, FPC
Chapter Coordinator



Lynn Gauger, FPC is the Payroll Specialist and HR Coordinator for Network Health based out of Menasha, WI. She also supports another location in Brookfield, WI. She has been employed there for 4 1/2 years. Lynn runs two hourly and salaried payrolls for about 475 employees bi-weekly. Other responsibilities are managing Ergonomics for all employees, process and manages workers compensation claims along with filing OSHA 300A logs and filing annual Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports. Supports HR Department by running Education, License, Employment and Background checks for all new hires. 

She also works at the Salvation Army during the holiday seasonal as a Red Kettle Coordinator.  Coordinating bell ringers, match day with companies in the community and monitoring and depositing donations. In addition is also the Chairperson of Missions and Outreach Committee at Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion.   Coordinates and puts on a free meal once a month for anyone in the community.  Mission work and finding out what the need is in the community. During the holidays coordinates Coats for Kids and Adopt a Family through the Salvation Army.

Prior to Network Health, Lynn Gauger worked at Lutheran Social Services for 12.5 years as a Payroll, Benefits, Leave, Accounting and Work Comp Analyst.  

Lynn is hard working, flexible and pays attention to detail. Her 5 strengths in order are responsibility, adaptability, positivity, empathy and includer. Loves a challenge and likes new opportunities.

Tracy Olson, CPP is a Senior Human Resources Systems Analyst with TreeHouse Foods.  In her current role as a member of the HRIS team, she supports day to day HR, benefits and payroll operations at her organization of 11,000 employees by maintaining and optimizing their HR systems.

She received her Associates degree in Accounting in 1995 and began working in the Payroll profession in 2000, earning her CPP in 2010.  Her payroll skills and aptitude for technology turned her job into a career and a career into a passion.  With her years of experience in accounting, payroll and technology, she’s made it her mission to serve her employer and their employees with efficiency and accuracy.

Stephanie Ernsting is the Director of HR Shared Services for Amcor Flexibles North America, LLC in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  The HR Shared Services team at Amcor provides services including Payroll, Global Mobility, HR Service Center, HRIS and Office Services.  She has been with Amcor for six years.

Prior to her role at Amcor, Steph held multiple finance and accounting positions at Rockwell Collins, Inc. headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  In her last role at Rockwell Collins, Inc. Stephanie was the Global Process Owner for Payroll in which she oversaw and implemented global payroll systems. 

Steph holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa, a MBA from the University of Iowa, and has her Certified Public Accountant, Certified Managerial Accountant and Certified Payroll Professional certifications.  She is the Past President of the Northeast Wisconsin American Payroll Association and is a speaker for the American Payroll Association.

On a personal note, Stephanie is a mother of two boys, 10 and 12 who keep her busy outside of work.  On days off, Steph enjoys traveling, attending concerts and reading books.  Her goal is to visit all 7 New Wonders of the World, she only has one left to visit.

Kelly Seiltz, CPA, MBA, CPP

Kelly Seiltz, CPA, MBA, CPP is the Payroll Manager for Amcor Flexibles North America, Inc. (AFNA) based out of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  Kelly began her career in January of 2000 and spent over 8 years working in public accounting where she attained her CPA and MBA designations.  Her duties included working directly with individual and corporate clients on tax planning and managing the tax compliance process for large multi-state companies.  She specialized in benefit plans, sales and use tax, high income individual tax returns, federal income tax and multi-state income tax compliance. 

She started her career at Amcor in 2008 and then was promoted to Tax Supervisor in the Corporate Income Tax Department.  She was instrumental in transitioning the state income tax function from Minneapolis to Wisconsin and establishing the state income and sales/use tax compliance processes. Kelly also managed the international and state income tax compliance process.

In 2017, Kelly was promoted to Payroll Manager for North America and attained her FPC and CPP designations. She manages the preparation and execution of the hourly and salaried payrolls for North America, which includes 9 legal entities and approximately 9,500 employees within the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.  Her responsibilities include leading all Payroll and Payroll HRIS team members, ensuring AFNA locations are compliant with company policies and government regulations, managing vendor relationships and working with various departments within Amcor on special projects.
